In Shadowkeep, Eris Morn calls us to the Moon to investigate Hive activity and haunting Nightmares—ghostly visions of fallen allies. Inside the Hive’s Scarlet Keep, we discover a Pyramid, our first direct encounter with the Darkness. After escaping a Nightmare of Crota, we craft special armor using a stolen Hive artifact to protect ourselves. Eventually, we re-enter the Pyramid, where the Darkness takes hold of our Ghost and guides us to a strange artifact. Touching it gives us a vision of ourselves in the Black Garden, where a doppelganger tells us the Darkness is our salvation. The artifact leads us back to the Black Garden, where we defeat a group of Vex worshipping the Darkness, triggering a full-scale invasion of the Moon.
Season of the Undying
Season of the Undying continues from Shadowkeep as we attempt to cull the ongoing Vex invasion. During this time, we manage to defeat The Undying Mind, who is leading the invasion.
Season of Dawn
Season of Dawn focuses on a group of Psions hijacking a time machine known as the Sundial and attempting to rewind our defeat of the Red Legion. During this time, we use the Sundial to rescue Saint-14, a legendary Titan who died, yet using the Sundial, we are able to save him from his final death and get his help to defeat the Cabal. At the end of this season, a Psion escaped and sent the Almighty on a crash course directly towards the Tower.
Season of the Worthy
Throughout Season of the Worthy, we get together with the Warmind Rasputin to help set up a satellite array to destroy the Almighty before it crashes into the city. We nearly succeed but destroyed the Almighty a touch too late and caused damage to the tower. We also find out that Felwinter, one of the previous Iron Lords, was created by Rasputin as a body for himself, yet was killed and revived as a Guardian. Due to this, Rasputin ended up seeing Felwinter as a son, yet also felt Jealous that he was able to live for himself instead of his initial plan, so Rasputin started the SIVA protocol, which killed him and others at the start of Rise of Iron. However, Rasputin felt regret for his actions, proving that he was more than just a set of instructions and would prove useful in the upcoming events.
Season of Arrivals
In Season of Arrivals, the Black Fleet—Pyramid ships of the Darkness—enters the solar system. Rasputin tries to fight back but is nearly destroyed, though Ana Bray saves his core code. The Darkness doesn’t attack directly but instead takes positions around the system, spreading corruption and attempting to communicate. However, Savathûn interferes using her Taken forces to block our efforts. After pushing through, we finally receive the Darkness’s message: it claims we are weak under the Traveler and that survival will require embracing the Darkness. The season ends with Io, Mars, Mercury, and Titan consumed by the Darkness, vanishing entirely.

In Beyond Light, we travel to Europa after a distress call from Variks. There, we face Eramis, leader of House Salvation, who has embraced the Darkness and gained control of Stasis. After initially failing to stop her, the Darkness guides us to its Pyramid, where we reunite with Eris Morn, The Drifter, and the Exo Stranger — Elsie Bray, from an alternate timeline where the Darkness won. With their help, we gain control of Stasis and defeat Eramis, trapping her in ice. Elsie reveals her past and warns of House Salvation’s plans to use the Deep Stone Crypt. We stop them and she vows to use Darkness to protect our timeline.
Season of the Hunt
After Beyond Light, Zavala and Osiris investigate the rise of Xivu Arath. Osiris loses his Ghost, Sagira, but is saved by Crow — the resurrected Uldren Sov. Though Guardians forget their past lives, Crow is shunned due to his former identity and is under the Spider’s control. Xivu Arath spreads Hive corruption using cryptoliths, creating Wrathborn soldiers. After defeating the High Celebrant, Sagira’s killer, the Guardian chooses Crow as a reward from the Spider, freeing him. Osiris then convinces Crow to return to the Tower.
Season of the Chosen
Caiatl, daughter of Emperor Calus, rises as Empress of the Cabal and proposes a truce with humanity to fight the Hive and Darkness — but demands command, which Zavala refuses. She labels us enemies. As tensions rise, Zavala forms a task force and uncovers an assassination plot against him. Meanwhile, a distress signal leads us to the Glykon, where we discover Calus tried communing with the Darkness using the Crown of Sorrow. After battling Caiatl’s commanders, Zavala challenges her to the Rite of Proving. We win, and she agrees to a truce. A rogue Psion attempts to assassinate Zavala again but is stopped by Crow.
Season of the Splicer
The Vex plunge the Last City into eternal night, prompting Ikora to enlist Mithraax, a Splicer and leader of the House of Light, for help. Mithraax aids in accessing the Vex network to uncover the cause. Though mistrusted, Ikora grants his people refuge in the city. Eventually, it’s revealed that Savathûn is behind the endless night, using a Taken Vex named Quria. After Quria’s defeat, it’s discovered that Lakshmi of the Future War Cult and Osiris were conspiring to open a Vex portal. The city is saved, but Osiris vanishes mysteriously afterward.
Season of the Lost
Osiris is revealed to have been Savathûn in disguise since Season of the Hunt. She asks Mara and the Guardian to remove her Hive worm so she can be free of its control, offering to return Osiris in exchange. Mara agrees, hoping to make Savathûn vulnerable. Savathûn claims she opposes the Darkness, but her motives remain unclear. The Guardian helps Mara rescue her Techeuns to complete the ritual. During this time, Savathûn reveals Crow’s true identity as Uldren, shaking him deeply. The worm is successfully removed, Savathûn vanishes, and Osiris is returned in a coma, later taken back to the Tower by Saint-14.
Throughout these 2 years, we forged alliances while also forming a much better grasp on the darkness, and what we’re truely facing, and it’s time to truely take action.
